about

Electric Recall is the final instalment in Safetynett and Jamie Flett’s 2020 trilogy. Beginning with a noisy instrumental that could have come from anywhere in about the last 50 or so years of the history of recorded music featuring raucous garage band stylings with ruined synthesizer the brothers are apparently allowing some of the past (whether it’s their past or not) to catch up with them. The idea of history seems to continue as themes like memory, loss and regret are examined obliquely through wistful piano, effects like ghostly reverberating voices and layering of instrumental textures and echoes. Perhaps even more obliquely, like recall that stubbornly evades summoning or only returns inaccurately, there are also musical phrases, flavours and ideas repeated or extended within and across these tracks as well as some connected to others from previous instalments of the (otherwise not necessarily related) trilogy. The themes are explored more directly in some elegiac lyrics but there are few words on the album, as if they ended up insufficient or inappropriate for attempts to describe ghosts, echoes, degraded narratives and deteriorating recollection.

about

Jamie Flett Glasgow

Music maker from Aberdeen in the North East of Scotland, now living in Glasgow.

This has resulted in attempts to investigate some remoter sonic territories.. As well as more songs. ... more
